Book Review: The White Nights

Bibliographic Details Author: Fyodor Dostoevsky Title: White Nights Year of Publication: 1848 Genre: Romantic fiction / Short story Language: Originally written in Russian (available in English translation) Publisher: Various editions including Penguin Classics Introduction The short story "White Nights" by Fyodor Dostoevsky is a touching tale about loneliness, dreams, and love. The story is set in St. Petersburg, where a young man spends most of his time alone. The young man considers himself a dreamer because he dreams about a different life instead of living in reality. One night, he meets a girl named Nastenka, who changes his life for a few days. I chose this book because it talks about feelings that everyone experiences in their lives, such as loneliness and hope. Although it is a short story, it shows how a small event or friendship can be very significant in one’s life. Brief Summary The story takes place during the “white nights” in St. Petersburg when the nights a...

On a real note, the trip actually taught me a lot about Coherence and Clarity not just in our TEC textbooks, but in how our ancestors lived. Seeing how they built these massive houses without modern tools was eye-opening. I felt a weird sense of pride walking through the Kerala section; it was grounding to see where we came from, even if we were acting ...
